The Friends of the Locktown Stone Church look forward to sponsoring their seventh annual essay contest in 2012, open to 6th through 8th graders residing in Delaware Township (including public, home and private school students). The contest’s main purpose is to encourage appreciation and a deeper understanding of local history. For this year’s contest students may enter either a traditional written essay or a photo essay with related text. U.S. Savings Bonds are awarded in several categories, based on excellence in writing and/or photography, depth and relevance of a student’s research, and utilization of community resources through interviews and site visits. The contest opens January 1st, with topic and complete guidelines available after that date at the FLSC website www.locktownstonechurch.org (under Events); on Facebook (Friends of the Locktown Stone Church); or through participating teachers at the Delaware Township school. They may also be obtained by e-mailing Judy Dowd at judithadowd@comcast.net after January 1st.
